The laboratory is designed to determine the chemical composition of various materials. The chemical composition of tears can be determined using optical emission spectrometry (OES), which allows the determination of the chemical composition of metals and alloys, or energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (ED-XRF), which allows non-destructive analysis of the chemical composition of metallic and non-metallic materials. The spectrophotometer can also be used to determine the metal content of solutions.
Instrumentation equipment:
- SPECTROMAXx spectrometer- suitable for compact metallic samples based on iron, nickel, aluminum, copper, titanium and tin.
- DELTA Professional handheld spectrometer - analysis of samples that can be of various sizes and shapes, including powder and liquid samples.
- Libra spectrophotometer - determination of selected metals in solutions.
