Laboratory of Mineral Collections
Laboratory of mineral collections was established in 2018-2019 within the implementation of the project "History and present of mineral processing and their use in the Czech Republic and PL" No. CZ.11.4.120/0.0/0.0/16_013/0001384“ with the support of the INTERREG V-A Czech Republic - Poland program, Microproject Fund 2014-2020, financed by the European Union from the microproject fund, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. The Polish Główny Instytut Górnictwa, Politechnika Częstochowska and Uniwersytet Śląski w Katowicach joined forces with VŠB-TUO, which was the project leader.
The collection maps the montane history and the history of ore mining on the Czech-Polish border. This collection presents both input raw materials and fuels, as well as subsequent products of metallurgical production and forms of suitable processing of iron-bearing waste generated in metallurgy.
The exhibition is divided into two parts:
Mobile exposition - here are selected basic raw materials, fuels and products of metallurgical production in the Czech Republic and Poland presented in the form of a "mobile" exhibition, which is presented at the events of partner universities.
Permanent exposition - which consists of a collection of ore raw materials and fuels of the Czech Republic and the Czech Republic, samples of subsequent products and secondary products arising from metallurgical production.
