The laboratory is equipped with essential instruments designed mainly for preparing solid samples, monitoring the thermal decomposition of solid samples, and determining selected parameters in waters and aqueous effluents. The laboratory also has a set of large sieves for determining the granulometric composition of municipal waste samples according to the recommended methodology, as well as a pneumatic unit for sieve analysis of bulk samples.
The laboratory can analyse solid samples for basic fuel properties according to standard procedures. This includes parameters such as moisture content (CSN 44 1377), ash content (CSN ISO 1171) and total combustible material. The samples for these analyses must be homogenised, and the required quantity is approximately 20 g.
Furthermore, the laboratory is equipped with equipment for the preparation of aqueous leachates from solid waste samples (quantity of homogeneous sample approx. 200 g) according to the Methodological Instruction of the Waste Department of the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic for the assessment of leachability of waste using a dryer, shaker, and filtration unit (see picture).
