The laboratory is used for the determination of carbon and sulphur. These elements are important and cannot be determined (carbon) by X-ray fluorescence. The maximum sample weight is 1 g; the minimum is 0.1 g. Bulk and powder samples can be measured in metallic and other inorganic and organic matrices. This is a destructive method; the sample is burned.
The determination of oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen in bulk metallic materials is complementary to spectrometric analysis, which does not allow this determination. However, in specific cases, it is also used alone. The maximum sample weight is 1 g; the minimum is 0.2 g. Only lumped, abradable samples can be measured. This is a destructive method, and the sample is burnt. The Eltra ONH 2000 is currently out of service and is scheduled for repair.
